By Car

Prichsenstadt is 8km from exit 75 (sign posted Rüdenhausen/Wiesentheid) on the A3 motorway between Frankfurt and Nuremberg (Nürnberg) near Würzburg.

From the UK, Prichsenstadt is 744 km/460 miles, approximately 7 hours driving time from Calais. We have found that hotels near Brussels Airport are a convenient and economical stopover if one is required.

Train

Germany has an exceptional rail network, serviced by high speed Inter City Express (ICE) trains. Whichever airport you arrive at, train travel is normally an option to Würzburg from where a hire car can be collected. Würzburg is about a 20min drive from Prichsenstadt.

Train travel to Würzburg can also be convenient from anywhere in Eurpoe including the UK. From the UK take the Eurostar from London to Brussels and then (via Cologne and/or Frankfurt) to Würzburg.

By Air

If arriving by air we would strongly recommend hiring a car for your stay. The two closest airports are Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) German: “Flughafen Frankfurt am Main” and Nuremberg Airport (NUE) German: “Flughafen Nürnberg”.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

Frankfurt Airport has direct flights to many major airports internationally. Prichsenstadt can be reached by car in 1hr 30min (154 km/95 miles) from the airport along the A3 Autobahn, the airport is right next to the A3. You can pick up a hire car at the airport or alternatively you can travel directly from Frankfurt Airport to Würzburg on the high speed Inter City Express (ICE) train and pick up a hire car in Würzburg. Würzburg is about a 20min drive from Prichsenstadt. Do not confuse this airport with Frankfurt Hahn (HHN), see below.

Nuremburg Airport (NUE)

This is located conveniently 45 minutes (80 km/50 miles) from Prichsenstadt along the A3 Autobahn. This airport is small and pleasant and now has many direct flights to a growing number of destinations, including the UK, with flights to Stansted, Edinburgh, Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick amongst others. This is definately our preferred airport. British Airways, Lufthansa and Air Berlin are the main operators.

Munich International Airport (MUC)

Munich Airport is 2hr 30min (240km/150 miles) from Prichsenstadt. Munich has connections to airports internationally. Hire cars can be collected from the airport.

Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN)

Frankfurt Hahn is located 2hr 45min (286km/170 miles) from Prichsenstadt. It can be convenient and reasonable for some flights from the UK and other destinations but is not as close to Frankfurt as is sometimes implied by airline advertising! Hire cars can be collected from the airport. No train links are available from Frankfurt Hahn directly.
